2014 Annual Fun Run

posted 4 Feb 2014, 13:48 by Donal Travers

Almost 300 runners turned out last year on a fine sunny Saturday in February to take part in the now annual Rathcoffey GAA Fun Run.  Won in a time of 33 minutes by Stephen Cleary, just over a second covered the first three runners home.  The 2014 edition, and the third running of the race, takes place on Saturday morning 8th February with a start time of 11 a.m.

Once again a 10K and 7.5K course will be available.  The course is almost completely flat and after leaving Rathcoffey, the route heads for Ladychapel before turning towards Smithstown and Johninstown and returning to the GAA Clubhouse.

This year’s race will again be run in support of Console, the National Suicide Charity, with optional sponsorship cards available for anyone who wishes to avail of one.  A total of €2,450 was raised for the locally founded charity last year.

The entry fee is unchanged this year at €20.   Registration can be completed at the Rathcoffey GAA Clubhouse on the morning of the race or the night before, or online at The event will be fully time chipped with all entrants receiving notification of their time by text shortly after the run.

Further details are available on the Rathcoffey Fun Run Facebook page or via Rathcoffey GAA on Twitter.
